18,438 motorcycles, ATVs and scooters were sold during the first three months of 2019, compared with 21,599 for the same period in 2018.
This represents a 14.6 per cent decline for the market in the first quarter, with all market categories except scooters affected by the downturn.
Off-road category sales fell 9.3 per cent compared with the first quarter of 2018. Yamaha maintained its market leadership with a 27.8 per cent share, followed by Honda with 26.4 per cent, and KTM with 18.1 per cent.
Yamaha’s WR450F topped the enduro category with 332 units sold, this represents an 81.4% increase from the same period last year.
KTM’s 300 EXC was the second best-selling enduro bike with 153 sold, a 52.9% decrease from the same period last year.
The Austrian manufacturers 500 EXC sold 129 units, a 31% decrease.
Honda’s all-new CRF450L sold 63 units.
In the motocross category, Yamaha’s YZ250F experience a 27.5% increase in sales, moving 167 units. Honda’s CRF450R saw a decrease of 36.9% with 118 units sold while Kawasaki’s KX450 experience a 36.9% increase (115).
