The State Motorcycle Sports Complex in Broadford has a rich history with the MX Nationals, and in just over seven days the iconic venue will once again throw open the gates and welcome teams, competitors, and of course Motocross fans, for an action packed third round.
Motul MX Nationals Series Promoter Kevin Williams today explained that next weekend would be the last time that Broadford would feature on the MX Nationals calendar, and shared that whilst it will be the end of an era, the team is still looking forward to visiting the historic venue next weekend.
“Some of my fondest memories of running the motocross are at Broadford in Victoria. This will be our 11th time that we have visited the venue and with such a talent rich championship this year, it’s very fitting that 2016 marks our final visit,” Williams said.
“We are currently in our 20th anniversary year of managing the championship, and more than half of those years have been spent visiting Broadford, which is pretty special really.
“Next weekend will be the last time that the MX Nationals hosts a round at the State Motorcycling Complex, and while it is the end of a very historic era, we are excited to add a new venue to our calendar in 2017.”
Williams also shared that with the series now in full swing, that round three will be a crucial round for those who are vying for a 2016 Motul MX Nationals Championship.
“The undulating land and the ‘traditional style’ motocross circuit at Broadford tests a lot of riders, so we’re quite excited to see who comes out on top next weekend,” he said.
“After Broadford, the next two rounds are back to back (Murray Bridge and Wanneroo) so riders really need to be putting themselves in to a solid position before the series heads west.
‘One thing we know for sure, is that every time we visit Broadford it’s eventful – so fans and spectators can expect plenty of tight and exciting racing next weekend.”
