Originally scheduled for June 27-28, Poland’s largest Hard Enduro will not take place this year.
With the world currently battling to reduce the coronavirus pandemic, WESS Promotion GmbH, together with Red Bull 111 Megawatt event organisers, felt that the safest and most practical decision to take was not to proceed with the race at this time.
Always a favourite for competitors and fans alike, the race annually attracts up to 1,000 competitors during the two-day event at the PGE coal mine near Belchatow, Poland.
WESS Promotion GmbH are in daily contact with all WESS Enduro World Championship event organisers and are carefully monitoring the situation regards any further possible disruption to the current schedule.
Winfried Kerschhaggl – WESS Enduro World Championship Series Manager: “Unfortunately the COVID-19 situation we are all facing has not substantially improved enough to allow us to commit to running Red Bull 111 Megawatt this year. For the safety of everyone involved from competitors, spectators, organising staff and those living in the region, we have decided not to proceed as planned. We thank the event organisers for trying everything in their power to make it happen and look forward to returning to Poland for this incredible race in the near future.”
Red Bull 111 Megawatt Organising team: “Due to the current global pandemic and the consequences it brings in executing large-scale events, we have made the tough decision to cancel the sixth edition of Red Bull 111 Megawatt. As Poland’s biggest Hard Enduro we were very excited to return to the WESS Enduro World Championship for 2020. However, because of the situation faced, it’s not possible to estimate how things will develop during the next few months and if restrictions concerning mass gathering events will be lifted. Therefore to prioritise everyone’s safety and the quality of the event built during the previous five editions, we’ve decided to cancel Red Bull 111 Megawatt for 2020. We wish everyone good health and believe that we will soon be able to enjoy riding bikes together.”
