Multi-title winning enduro rider Jess Gardiner has added women only trail riding events to her already busy dirt bike coaching schedule – with the first cab off the rank being a fun weekend in the Victorian High Country.
Gardiner’s Offroad Riding Institute teamed up with the Vic-based Haasle Free High Country Tours to deliver exactly that – a hassle free weekend. Jess was joined by talented trials champion Kristie McKinnon to offer tips and advice to 17 riders starting from Nicholson and finishing at the iconic Dargo Pub. Here the group was treated to an evening meal and a hearty breakfast before heading 170km back to Nicholson on day two.
“It was great to be able to help out this great bunch of women and helping to promote women in motorcycling. Plus, I had a ball riding with them,” explains Jess. “The trail ride was targeted to all women from a reasonable beginner level right up to advanced – with the option to split into two groups to ensure a fun and flowing ride through the mountains for all abilities,” she continues.
The Haasle Free support vehcile provided an awesome lunch spread in the bush on both days while the WR250F and Ténéré 700 mounted lead and sweep riders ensured all participants made it safely to Dargo and back.
“Look out for more Offroad Riding Institute women only trail riding events in 2023! Also many thanks to Yamaha for their support – I had a good play on the Ténéré, amazing to ride – wishing it was still parked in my shed!” concludes Gardiner.
