Early on in my tenure with the 2023 Sherco 300 SE Factory I decided I needed to go up a couple teeth on the rear sprocket to give the Sherco a little more torque and allow me to carry second gear more often. I opted to go up two teeth to a blue anodised, 51-tooth sprocket from the Sherco accessories catalogue.

I’ve been running the sprocket for over nine months now and couldn’t be happier.

WE LIKED

Ordering I ordered the sprocket online from the Sherco accessories shop and the

ordering process was a breeze and the sprocket turned up within days.

Tough Not a single tooth has broken and there are no obvious gouges out of it.

Gearing Going up two teeth has given the bike so much extra torque and I hardly use any gears other than second and third. I’d even consider dropping a tooth on the countershaft sprocket to make it even more torquey.

Fitting getting the sprocket on was a breeze because it was a Sherco part. It lined up perfectly with the hub.

WE DIDN’T LIKE

Scratches The only downside to ordering a consumable with colour is that it’s guaranteed to rub off, which this one has.

VERDICT

The improved torque has made a huge difference and I can now carry second gear everywhere without needing to use first at all. If you plan on doing mostly slow-going, technical stuff, I highly recommend going up two teeth on the rear and the Sherco sprocket was an easy solution.
