I’ve been using Quad Lock products for nearly a decade now and I love them. They’re not only an Aussie company but they’re quality too. I’ve even seen my bike get cartwheeled with Quad Lock attached and nothing has broken. Quad Lock have now branched out into magnetic mounts as well with the Quadlock mag case and magnetic heads that fit all their existing products.
I use Quad Lock mounts for my bike, car, and desk and I’ve always used the turn and click mounts which are great but they add an extra layer of complexity, even if it is only three seconds. The Mag or magnetic option is awesome because for things like the car and desk that don’t require a super firm hold. I still run the magnetic face on my bike but I also lock it into place.
The Mag head, as it is known, is shaped like the regular Quad Lock receiver and simply bolts onto your bracket in place of the original face. It requires you to have a magnetic case as well but like the head, the case feels no different to the non-magnetic one.
The magnets are strong and in the car can hold the phone in place on rough dirt roads and on the desk I can type messages on the stand without it falling off. And despite what I thought, it’s really easy to marry the phone and the mount up. You could do it with your eyes closed.
