Husqvarna’s Pablo Quintanilla won the Stage ahead of KTM’s Kevin Benavides. Toby Price rounded out the day’s top three.
Price commented the tough stage was made more difficult by the inaccurate roadbook supplied by race officials.
“Even though the result of being 3rd and losing a lot of time today doesn’t look good on paper, I’m happy with the results,” Price said.
“The Roadbook was really average today and the kilometers didn’t match the track. I was following my noise a lot today and had to recall so many times. This gets very confusing at times so I survived really well opening the 200km till the 145km mark. Everything is feeling really soild after a few longs days on the bike which is also a positive.”
Stage winner Quintanilla also commented on the difficulty of the stage. “It was a difficult stage, very difficult to navigate because it was hard to find the right direction. But I tried to keep pace in a race where I made some mistakes with GPS. But there are two race days to shorten the distance between Toby Price and keep fighting to win”.
Tomorrow’s Stage 4 is 370km from Bahía Inglesa-Vallenar-Bahía Inglesa.
