Yamaha’s official representatives in round three of the 2016 FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship kicked off their week-long adventure in Sardinia this afternoon with a 2km shake down outside the city of Budoni.
All three riders finished the day without any problems. Completing the sort and dusty prologue in a time of 1:25.15, Adrien Van Beveren posted the sixth fastest time for the day. Helder Rodrigues was the eighth fastest rider in the prologue, while Alessandro Botturi ninth quickest. Today’s opening stage was topped by Yamaha WR450F mounted rider Xavier de Soultrait.
Successfully completing a long testing session in the morning, Eric de Seynes and Camelia Liparoti drove a great prologue on the Yamaha YXZ1000R machine. Posting the fastest time in the side-by-side class, the Yamaha duo also placed 37th in the overall classification.
Stage one of the 2016 Sardinia Rally will see competitors complete a 270km circular route starting and ending in the city of Budoni. It will be the first long stage of this 1,300km adventure in the heart of the Italian island.
