Betamotor, the Tuscany based constructor presents the new MY 2023 Beta RR range. The range consists of a bike which carries over many of the characteristics from its predecessor, but has been revised with a number of significant new features. There are also several other upgrades specific to certain engine sizes, in order to compliment the RR family as a whole.
Beta worked in collaboration with Enduro champions Brad Freeman and Steve Holcombe to develop solutions for the powertrain and the frame/suspension package for the MY 2023 RR 2 Stroke and 4 Stroke models. The new range also sports a new all-red colour scheme and plastics with a sleeker design than previous models.
The range is made up of 8 different models to give a diverse scope of riders, each a rewarding riding experience.
Updates for all models
- Suspension: Betamotor’s engineers have revised the internals of the front fork – a ZF component, as on the previous generation – for the 2023 model year of the RR family. The geometry of the oil passages around the fork piston have been modified to eliminate any throttling effect completely and ensure smooth damper action throughout the entire travel. By creating freer-flowing oil return passages, this improvement opens up greater possibilities for setting up the fork, as eliminating all impediments to the oil flow means that even the smallest change in setting produces a noticeable result. This results in an improved rider comfort and a more effective fork support throughout the initial movement of the damper. to keep the bike composed and controllable in rough terrain.
- Radiator shrouds on tank: The revised shape of the new radiator shrouds on the RR range are narrower for more freedom of movement when cornering in a motocross style. The shrouds let the rider assume a snugger position on the seat with the bike gripped firmly between the legs for more rider feedback.
- Graphics: all models now feature an all-red colour scheme with more minimal graphics.
RR 125 2 Stroke
- Flywheel and crankshaft: the 125 2-stroke engine features a lighter flywheel and a smaller diameter crankshaft introduced to reduce the inertia of the engine internals. This translates to a quicker throttle response as it allows the components of the engine to spin up more rapidly, and lets the rider make full use of all available power.
- Crankcase: the smaller-diameter crankshaft takes up less space in the crankcase. Betamotor’s engineers have redesigned the crankcase to compensate for the space freed up by the smaller crankshaft, optimising the interior volume of the component itself to ensure the air/fuel mixture flow needed to maximise the performance of the new components.
- Power valve: the power valve has been recalibrated to manage the higher performance of the new engine.
The 2023 RR 125 2 Stroke has received the most substantial modifications of the entire 2 stroke range. The upgrades made to the 125cc power unit are geared to improving the performance of the bike by making it quicker and more responsive.
RR 4 Stroke
- Traction control: The most significant new feature in the 4 Stroke range is the introduction of traction control, which made its début last year in the 4 Stoke Racing models. All 4 stroke Beta Enduro models now boast traction control which is selectable by the rider from a button between the steering tube and the fuel tank. The rider can disengage traction control at any time and in either of the engine maps available, while the function itself is calibrated differently for each of the two maps, offering the rider a choice of 4 different electronic control configurations.
- Exhaust header: all 4 stroke models feature a new exhaust header with a longer duct geometry, designed to improve engine response at low engine speeds and increasing torque at mid-range engine speeds. The result is a more tractable power delivery across the entire rev range.
- Engine map: 4 stroke models now feature dedicated new engine management maps which spread the power curve out more uniformly across the entire usable range of the engine, making the performance of even the biggest displacement Beta RR models more useable.
The new 2023 Beta RR range will be availaable from Australian dealers this September.
