Another hectic month has come and gone, and I’ve managed to sneak a few rides in on the 2024 Sherco 300 SE-F Factory, so that is a plus. As always with this time of year, we’ve had some pretty decent conditions and I’m slowly starting to figure out my time management skills with work, riding and the little man. I’ve tried the baby in the garage while working on bikes deal and it kind of worked out for about 15 minutes before he was bored.
Lucky for me, the Sherco 300 SE-F Factory has not needed a crazy amount of love since I’ve taken possession of it. Throw some fresh Motul engine oil in the beast every 7-10 hours and she’s good to go. I’d love to say that I’ve been changing out the Uni Filter air filters too but as I said before, conditions have been awesome, so air filter changes aren’t a common occurrence at the moment.
I’ve done a mixture of different rides this month with a few sprint days and even a quick Sunday morning trailride of about 60km of single track, so it’s been a good test for the Sherco. I still have a big smile on my face every time I throw a leg over this bike. I feel like my fitness has dropped even more lately due to the lack of sleep and I also put that down to the fact that I come home from work and my wife hands me the little dude and I am happy to just sit around with him. It’s pretty awesome, I even took Harley out to the track for a day and that was an experience for sure.
It all started with my wife, Ash wanting a well-deserved day to herself as every new mum needs, and it had rained so naturally, I wanted to ride as every new dad needs. So, how do we overcome this? I needed a second babysitter for the day, and well, thanks to my brother Stevo, we set off on our adventure that was Harley’s first day at the track.
Van and child loaded, we were off, and the plan was that I would do a few laps while Stevo took care of Harley, and I would thumb up or thumbs down on my way past the van. Then Stevo would do some laps while I was off. Good plan in theory, however, we quickly learned that Harley could only handle about 10-15 mins of big bad Uncle Stevo at a time. Still, it was pretty awesome to come back from a sprint session and hold my little boy. Never thought I’d be changing nappies in the middle of the day at a track!
We are also about a month or so out from the final AORC event of the year at Nowra and I’m heavily involved with the event so I’m excited to get some more bike time on the Sherco and enjoy racing the event in the Vets class. Wow I’m getting old.
