Following his breakthrough victory in San Diego, Aaron Plessinger of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing entered Round 4 of the 2024 AMA Supercross Championship as the leader in the premier class points, marked by the red plates on his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION during qualifying, where he secured the 14th position. Plessinger continued to build on this foundation, finishing sixth in the first race.
Consistent strong starts and race pace propelled Plessinger through the subsequent two races, securing fourth and third positions, respectively. This performance earned him a third-place finish overall for the night, extending his lead in the standings to four points over teammate Chase Sexton. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team now holds a 1-2 position entering the next event in Detroit.
Plessinger reflected on the race, emphasizing the importance of consistency and his satisfaction with his performance. He acknowledged the challenges and credited his success to maintaining composure throughout the event.
Chase Sexton, the defending 450SX Champion, demonstrated his prowess by claiming the second-fastest time in qualifying. In the Triple Crown Main Event, Sexton dominated the first race with a wire-to-wire victory. However, a challenging start in the second race resulted in an 11th-place finish. The final race saw Sexton strategically securing second place, concluding the night in fifth overall.
Sexton expressed his mixed feelings about the event, acknowledging the ups and downs of his races but remaining focused on bouncing back in the upcoming races, particularly on the east coast dirt.
In the 250SX West category, rookie Julien Beaumer faced challenges with an unfortunate fall in the first race, finishing in 12th place. He rebounded in the second race, starting strong and climbing to a fifth-place finish. Beaumer secured a sixth-place finish in the third race, concluding the Anaheim 2 event with seventh place overall. Despite the setbacks, Beaumer remained optimistic, highlighting the learning experience and expressing determination to improve in the upcoming races in Glendale.
