Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s extreme enduro rider Billy Bolt will get his first taste of the FIM EnduroGP World Championship this coming weekend when he competes in the GP of Greece in Grevena, replacing injured team rider Christophe Charlier.
Recently finishing seventh in the ErzbergRodeo Hare Scramble, competing in the EnduroGP of Greece will allow Billy to gain further experience as he readies himself for the Romaniacs Hard Enduro Rallye at the end of July.
Billy will compete as replacement for Christophe Charlier, who crashed on day one of the recent EnduroGP of Hungary and fractured a bone in his left hand. Although finishing the first day of competition, Christophe was forced to withdraw on day two having completed the opening extreme test. The EnduroGP rookie is expected to return to competition at the GP of Portugal in Castelo Branco, on July 22-23. Round five of the FIM EnduroGP World Championship takes place this coming weekend, July 1-2, in Grevena, Greece.
Billy Bolt: “This is a great opportunity for me, I’m really looking forward to racing in Greece. I’m not too sure what to expect, apart from the fact it’s going to be very different to Erzberg, which was the last race I did. And racing in the heat is also going to be something I’m not used to. But it’s a great opportunity to get some more experience. EnduroGP special test style racing is very different to what I do normally, but it should be a lot of fun.”
Andi Hölzl – Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team Manager: “Although it’s disappointing for the team that Charlier is unable to race this weekend because of the hand injury he picked up in Hungary, it’s a great opportunity for Billy. It will really be a no pressure race for Billy – we know well that EnduroGP is not his style of racing, but it will a really good opportunity for him to experience something new, and further build his fitness ahead of Romaniacs.”
