Ando Joins CDR Yamaha 30 Year Celebration
Australian motocross and supercross legend and Hunter Valley hero, Craig Anderson, will be the special guest of the CDR Yamaha Monster Energy Team this weekend at round four of the ProMX Championship
Anderson, the 12-time Australian Motocross and Supercross champion, raced for the CDR Yamaha team in 1998 and 1999 before reuniting with CDR Yamaha boss, Craig Dack, in the US as part of the Yamaha of Troy team in 2003 and 2004. Anderson was also a long time Yamaha rider in his junior years, winning multiple championships on a YZ85 and YZ125.
Despite retiring at the end of the 2011 season, Anderson has continued to be involved in racing as he coaches and mentors’ young riders in the Hunter Valley region with the assistance of the Chris Watson dealership. Anderson was raised in West Wallsend, despite having raced all over world, is still based in the Hunter region and looking forward to being a guest of the CDR Yamaha team at the Maitland round.
“It was pretty cool to get the phone call from Craig to be the guest of the team at the Maitland round to celebrate their 30 years in racing,” Anderson recalls. “I have nothing but fond memories riding for Craig and a lot of my career highlights happened with him, his team and on Yamaha.
“I’m also close mates with everyone on the team including the two riders who I have watched race over the years since I stopped. Both Luke and Aaron have impressed me and are putting together a good career in racing that still has plenty of success to come.
“Maitland promises to be a good round and the Hunter Valley continues to be a real dirt bike hub for Australia, so I hope everyone gets behind it and comes out to watch some great racing on a good track.”
