In a bid to support the growth of Supercross, AUS-X Open has agreed to wave all entry fees for both Saturday and Sunday’s events, for SX1 class privateer racers only, saving them $400.
In addition, tyre manufacturer Dunlop will return as the event’s Official Tyre Partner for the third year in a row, and in turn have agreed to provide a new set of tyres, with a retail value of over $200, free of charge for the privateer SX1 racers who enter and race at this year’s AUS-X Open event, to assist them with their season campaign.
“We recognise that racing at the top level can be expensive for up and coming riders who aren’t yet supported by a factory team and wanted to lend a hand. We’re stoked to partner with Dunlop again, who have been with us since day one and really appreciate them jumping on board to support this initiative and the up and coming riders, who need it most,” Event Director Adam Bailey said.
“As the event draws closer, we’re getting extremely excited with further anouncements to come, including international riders. We’re confident this year’s Monster Energy AUS-X Open will see the most competitive field of Supercross racers, ever to compete on Australian shores!”
Having been a long time supporter of the AUS-X Open and motorcycling sport in Australia throughout it’s history, Dunlop tyres did not hesitate at supporting the AUS-X Open for 2017 and this latest program to support competitors.
“Our sport is built on privateers and the up and coming racers giving it their all to compete at the highest level. Dunlop are really proud to have been associated with the AUS-X Open since it’s inception and to be able to offer product support to SX1 riders competing this year, to help them keep costs down and ensure they have the grip they need to compete against the best riders in the world!” Dunlop Motorsport Manager Sabastian Mincone said.
The 2017 Monster Energy AUS-X Open Sydney incorporates rounds four and five of the Australian Supercross Championship and is one of the largest Supercross, FMX and action sports events in the world.
Featuring 2 x World Champion – Chad Reed, current World Number 4 – Jason Anderson, 4 x World Champion and the greatest of all time – Ricky Carmichael, motorcycle stuntman and Freestyle Motocross icon – Robbie Maddison, plus many more of the world’s best on two wheels.
