BIGGER, BETTER, BROADIE
Melbourne’s Broadmeadows Motocross Park has changed hands and changed its name
Cheyne Boyd has taken the reins of Broadmeadows Motocross Park, renaming it Park4MX and giving it a major makeover. As the new owner, Boyd has made countless changes to the pro-size motocross track and the three tracks for smaller capacity bikes.
Set on land only 30 minutes drive from Melbourne’s CBD, Park4MX caters for every level of motocross rider, from kids on 50s up to pro-level riders on tyre-destroying 450Fs.
The pro track that some of you may have ridden when the park was Broadmeadows Motocross Park is almost unrecognisable. Its direction has been reversed and almost all of the jumps and corners have been changed.
Boydy has spent a lot of time trying to improve the fl ow of the hard pack clay track and, from all accounts, he has achieved this. He redesigned the track to lower the overall diffi culty and has made it a track that is suitable for any level of rider. All the jumps can be rolled if a rider isn’t feeling up to jumping them, and have been designed to be forgiving for new riders who are learning to fly.
Younger riders will be able to enjoy the new tracks built just for smaller capacity bikes. The park is open four days a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to dusk and Saturday and Sunday 9am–5pm. It also is open on public holidays. Park4MX also offers on-site training for riders looking to sharpen their skills.
