Todd Waters (FC450) was dominant, winning the MX1 Superpole and race two, Wilson Todd (FC250) took all three MX2 race wins and Bailey Malkiewicz (FC250) showed that he’s ready for the MX2 Class with 13-6-12 results.
Dale Hocking, DPH Husqvarna team owner: “With both Todd (Waters) and Wilson (Todd) qualifying fastest, we were confident of a strong result and really, that’s what we saw. If not for a racer coming together with Todd and damaging the FC450 subframe off the start in race one, I’m sure he would have been racing for the overall win. I’m really impressed with how Bailey rode the FC250 today. Strong in Qualifying and raced three great races. He’s young, talented and motivated, I think he’s only going to improve as the year progresses. Wilson rode with his head, showed incredible speed and really owned the track. Three wins and lapping faster than everyone in all but one session, he’s in a great position and really enjoying being on the bike.”
Todd Waters: “I’m really happy with how the year is coming together, the team and the FC450. It was a bummer to have a DNF in the first race after winning Superpole, but I got a bad start and put myself in a position where anything can happen, so I’m disappointed about that. The team worked hard to get the bike the ready for me and I turned it around in the second moto, taking the win and finished the weekend strong. I’m looking forward to the next round in Broadford with DPH as it’s such a good weekend with those guys!”
Wilson Todd: “I felt good coming into this weekend, the FC250 is working unreal for me and I’m really comfortable being back with DPH. I wanted to really race this weekend after Appin, and I’m super stoked to have first gate pick and then take all three race wins. As the track dried it got faster, and I was able to put in some really strong, consistent laps and the hard work I’ve been putting in is really starting to show.”
Bailey Malkiewicz: “I’m a lot happier this weekend with one top-ten finish, and I really think I can improve to be in that top ten a lot more this year. I felt good in qualifying, even though it was pretty wet on track, but in the races, it was difficult to move forward through the pack without a strong start because the track didn’t form up the best. The second moto I had a much better start and was able to hold my ground for that sixth place.”
With round three slated for Broadford, Victoria on April 14, the DPH Husqvarna Factory Racing Team will take the two weeks to fine tune each riders training program along with carrying out routine maintenance on the Husqvarna FC250 and FC450 race bikes.
