The man affectionately known as ‘the GOAT’ is set to join Australian icon – Chad Reed, and current world number four – Jason Anderson, inside the famed Qudos Bank Arena this November 11 & 12.
Carmichael, who won an astonishing 12 Championships in the premier 450cc Class across his hall-of-fame career, will return to Australia for the first time since 2015, where he was the undisputed crowd favourite at the inaugural AUS-X Open event.
With the flurry of high profile supercross superstars announced over the past week, it’s expected that the 2017 AUS-X Open will blow the previous years out of the water, with Reed, Anderson, Carmichael & many more – along with Australia’s best – set to create the most unpredictable, incredible supercross action the country has ever witnessed.
After having a blast down under in 2015, Carmichael is amped to be returning to the AUS-X Open, citing that the unparalleled atmosphere the event has as a main pillar for his return.
“I’m beyond excited to return down under for the AUS-X Open in 2017!” exclaimed Carmichael.
“When I came down for the 2015 event, I didn’t quite know what to expect initially, however during and after the event I was absolutely blown away by how much fun it was – plus how professional the event was carried out.
Returning in 2017 was a very easy decision – I love Australia, the fans are amazing, plus with the addition of Chad and Jason – I’m just as excited as a fan to see this battle unfold – if you are a supercross fan from wherever in the world, you won’t want to miss this!” finished Carmichael.
Event Co-Founder and Director – Adam Bailey, said the addition of Carmichael will create an atmosphere that’ll be completely new to Australian motorsport, as the Greatest of All Time makes his presence felt in Sydney.
“Having Ricky on board for 2017 is absolutely incredible,” commented Bailey.
“What he brought to the event in 2015 as a whole was insane – the fans loved him and he truly reciprocated that, by giving each and every single person the time of day like no other – there’s no doubt he’s a legend both on and off the motorcycle.
It’s certainly been a big week of announcements, but truthfully we’re just getting warmed up, we’re pumped to drop some bombshells in the very near future – watch this space,” finished Bailey.
The AUS-X Open has been touted as the largest Supercross, Freestyle Motocross and Action Sports event in the Southern Hemisphere. Featuring the world’s best on two wheels, combined with concert like entertainment values, all within the comfort of one of Australia’s iconic indoor venues.
