At the gate drop for the 450SX Main Event, Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey claimed the holeshot ahead of teammate Marvin Musquin.

While running in second on the opening lap, Musquin had a close call where he went off the track for a brief moment and lost a position to Ken Roczen. Musquin recovered quickly and settled into the third place position early on as he set his sights on the lead duo ahead.

Dungey led the first seven laps of the Main Event until Roczen took over the lead just before the halfway point. Dungey  continued to pressure Roczen for the lead position but after 24-laps, due to the new format of timed-races, the Main Event extended itself to 24-laps in total, it was Roczen who would take the win.

Dungey would finish second ahead of Musquin in third.

Yamaha’s Chad Reed finished the night in ninth position.

Round 1 winner, Shane Mcelrath suffered a bad start but made his way through the pack and would make a move for the lead with two laps remaining. The KTM rider secured a narrow victory over Kawasaki’s Justin Hill in second while Yamaha’s Aaron Plessinger would round out the top three.

Hayden Melross improved on his Round 1 performance and finished ninth in the 250SX main event. Countryman, Dan Reardon was on track to claiming a podium position but made a small mistake while holding onto third position. The crash would see Reardon finish 17th.

The championship heads back to Anaheim for Round 3 January 21.
