Dungey made the announcement he was parting ways with the team on Instagram this morning, stating “After months spent with the Factory Connection Racing team and discussions with the team’s owners, it’s tough to say we will be discontinuing our relationship. I found this is to be a larger commitment than I can give it at this stage in my life.”
The five-time AMA Supercross Champion (four 450, one 250) and four-time AMA Pro Motocross Champion (three 450, one 250) retired from racing after the 2017 season. He joined the Factory Connection GEICO Honda team as a part-owner in December last year and worked with GEICO team riders including Jett Lawrence, for the opening rounds of AMA Supercross in a counsel and coaching role.
