The 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship gets underway this weekend with the series opener at Hangtown. The Californian race track has a long history in the motocross community, holding the title as the oldest race on the schedule with its first race 47 years ago in 1969.
Hangtown joined the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in 1974 and it served as the series opener for 10 consecutive seasons. In 2004 Hangtown returned to its position as the opening round of the championship and has served that role for 10 of the last 13 season.
A race as old as Hangtown holds a special place in the dirtbike community and as a result holds some pretty special records.
