If it’s good enough for Todd Waters than the Can-AM Maverick X3 is good enough for you! The 2019 MX Nationals Champ from Queensland was spotted ripping around on the Maverick X3 earlier this year and knowing how tight the Can-AM group are with the dirtbike industry we think Toddy would be silly not to ask if they have spare race-prepped side-by-side for Finke 2022. We’d hate to see hi switch the to dark side of four-wheel-racing but in all professional riders lives there comes a time when they need to look for something a little safer!
Can-AM have taken race-spec side-by-sides to another level in recent years with their rear-mounted 154hp turbocharged and intercooled 900cc engine. The guys over at Australasian SXS tested the Can-AM Maverick X3 a while back and reckon it is one of the best race machines on the market. We reckon reckon Todd Waters, who has buddied up with the Canadian firm and has been seen steering one out at Alice Springs, could follow in Toby Price’s footsteps and switch from two-wheels to four-wheels such is his exceptional race craft.
It makes sense for these side-by-side manufacturers to buddy up with dirtbike riders when looking for pilots as we already have the kahunas to send it in the dirt. The skill cross over is similar with many dirtbike racers understanding the way a vehicle moves in the dirt and how to handle it. Don’t be surprised if you see more of our ageing professional racers spotted driving these race=bred machines. Did someone say Brett Metcalfe in a Honda Talon?
